Here's The Story

When I was little, my mother would drop my off at my grandparents before going to work. There I would always find my grandmother at the door (usually in her pyjamas) with open arms and smiles... and something to eat for breakfast.

School days came, my mother would drop us off at school. My grandpa would come and pick me up for lunch. I'd walk in the door to a house smelling of deliciousness... and it was always the best thing that I had ever tasted, even if it was the same thing I had eaten the week before.

Always so yummy... and I could never figure out why. My mother would make the same dishes, and they would never come out tasting quite like they did when grandma made them. I remember like it was yesterday when I looked up at her one day, food all over my face, and asked her what it was that made her food taste so good... "I made it with love for my favourite granddaughter" she would say. (At the time, I was the only grandchild, so there was no bias to be had.)

So there you have it... what it is that makes food so delicious? It's made with love. Nothing makes you feel quite like when you have made and served something, and the plates come out clean, or seconds are asked for. Even if you don't really get a verbal "thank you" out of them, the almost required nap on the couch after the meal is thanks enough.

It doesn't even have to be an elaborate 7 course meal, you don't have to be in the kitchen cooking all day (even though I think that is one of the best places to be) it can be something as simple as a grilled cheese with bacon for the bacon lover in your life.

That being said, I will not take credit for all of the recipes I post. Most of them will be what I like to call 'hybrid' recipes (Have you ever tried to look up bacon cheddar biscuits on line? There are hundreds!!) I take the time to look up at least 10, list out the indigents and much like cooking, I pick and choose ingredients, baking times and temperatures to create the ultimate fail proof recipe - all of which I have tried (sometimes more than once before perfecting) and have made over and over again.

Please feel free to follow me, and I will most definitely return the favour.

Thank you for taking the time to read and post/comment!
